PROFESSIONAL PIANO TUNING

At the turn of the last century, almost every one of your grandmothers had a piano. Unfortunately, 80% of the pianos from this era are no longer structurally sound and not cost effective to recondition or rebuild, but long with the thousands of modern pianos, there are many still in homes and valuable to the owner and pianist.

Pianos are highly intricate machines consisting of around 9,000 parts. They don’t just need a "little tuning."

Because pianos are made out of wood, slight changes in temperature and humidity can affect a piano's tuning stability; wood absorbs or loses moisture content causing it to swell or shrink. Tension on the strings increase or decrease with this swelling and shrinkage, and very slight movement in the strings with the bridges and soundboard of the piano cause the strings' vibrations to change, making the piano sound of tune.
